We currently offer a variety of work experience opportunities, mainly throughout the summer months, tailored to both undergraduate and graduate students. We work with our department heads to identify live projects so you will gain first-hand experience and also add real value to the business. All of our placements are paid and are usually based at Resolution House in Scarborough.
In 2018 we offered placements in operations, commercial, process engineering, external affairs and geology. The opportunities we offer each year are led by the demand within the business, so these are likely to change in 2019.
On occasion we may also offer shorter placements for college students. Our education outreach programme works with local schools and colleges (we’ve worked with over 8,000 young people so far) so we do not currently offer individual office-based opportunities to school pupils. You can find out more about the outreach work we do here.
In the future, we plan to relaunch our undergraduate programme and have committed to creating at least 15 new opportunities. We have already supported five students studying earth sciences or engineering with bursaries and paid placements, with two of these young people taking up permanent positions with us.
Our 2019 opportunities will be advertised on the Sirius Minerals website, through local education providers and using our database of prospective candidates. Please ensure you select ‘Work Experience/Placement’ or ‘Apprenticeship/Graduates’ in the Job Preferences section.
