The planning permission for the mine and mineral transport system requires improvements to Mayfield Road junction in Whitby, which carries the arterial routes from Scarborough and Teesside in and out of the town.

We have worked with North Yorkshire County Council and our specialist highways consultants to design a new junction layout and intelligent signalling system that will improve traffic flow and significantly increase pedestrian safety.

Balfour Beatty have been contracted to undertake the works, which will commence on Monday 11 April and are programmed to last approximately 12 weeks to ensure completion before the height of the tourist season.
